Homeschooling on a Budget: School Choice and More!

Hi Reader!

One of the most overwhelming parts of homeschooling in the beginning, is figuring out where the money will come from to make it possible. Will one parent stay home? Can we homeschool and work? How much is it going to cost anyway?

The cost of homeschooling can vary widely, depending on the program one decides to use, and what extracurricular activities are chosen. Thankfully, there are more and more resources becoming available all the time to help support homeschool families. Texas just unveiled their new homeschool voucher program. It awards up to $2,000 per student to pay for homeschool supplies and activities. Families must enroll by March 17th for next year.

Most states now have some kind of School Choice program, so make sure to check what your state has to offer. There are many other resources and tricks for making homeschooling affordable.

As with most things, it'll take some trial and error, and tailoring your program to your budget and availability. But, one of the beauties of homeschooling is it allows for just that kind of freedom. Don't think you're depriving your child of something if you're working with a limited budget. Teach them financial responsibility, strategic planning, and resourcefulness. If they have a committed parent investing time and energy into their education, that's the best thing you can give them.

You're just missing a clear path. Most families don't need more curriculum, more schedules, or more pressure- They need a simple roadmap to show them what to focus on right now. That's why we created the...

Hi Reader! One of the most overwhelming parts of homeschooling, is feeling the need to do ALL the things all the time. And not just that our kids need to be exposed to subjects, it's easy to feel like they only count as "school" if we are the ones actively sitting down and teaching a lesson on the subject. This doesn't have to be the case. In fact, studies show that children learn much faster and more effectively through play. When parents are able to fully embrace this idea, it takes a lot...

Hi Reader! 2026 is here! (That still sounds a little weird...) Many people have reflected on the past year and made goals for this new year that's just started. And, for more and more people, part of that goal includes learning how to homeschool their kids! This is exciting for us! We have worked hard over the past several years to anticipate and develop all of the resources families could need, to help make this desire a reality. The number of Google searches for "How to Homeschool" has...
