You're Doing Better Than You Think đź’›

Hi Reader!

If this season feels heavy, you’re not alone. As the school year winds down, many families find themselves stretched thin—trying to finish strong, manage end‑of‑year expectations, and somehow begin planning for next year at the same time. It’s a lot. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, tired, or unsure you’re “doing enough,” please hear this first:

You are doing important work, and your presence matters more than perfection.

It’s easy to believe that everything needs to be wrapped up neatly—that every lesson must be finished, every goal met, every plan fully formed. But learning doesn’t happen in tidy boxes or strict timelines. Children grow through consistency, connection, curiosity, and feeling safe to be who they are. As you move through these final weeks, here are a few gentle reminders:

  • It’s okay to simplify. Not everything needs to be completed to be meaningful. Focus on what truly serves your child right now.
  • Progress matters more than polish. Growth often looks quiet and uneven before it looks impressive.
  • Rest is productive. A regulated, supported child (and parent) learns better than an exhausted one.
  • You don’t need next year fully figured out yet. Planning can happen in small, manageable steps. One thoughtful decision at a time is enough.

Learning continues through everyday moments—conversations at the table, time outdoors, shared laughter, reading together, creative play, and real-life problem solving. These moments count. They always have. As you look ahead, try to hold this question gently instead of chasing a perfect plan: What does my child need most to feel confident, curious, and supported? Trust yourself. You know your child better than anyone. And you are allowed to end this year with grace, not guilt. You’re not behind. You’re not failing. You’re showing up—and that matters more than you know.

With encouragement and gratitude,

But when children truly understand place value, math begins to make sense. This week I shared a short video explaining how to help your child understand place value using simple hands-on ideas. You can watch the video and read the full...

Can we homeschool and work? How much is it going to cost anyway? The cost of homeschooling can vary widely, depending on the program one decides to use, and what extracurricular activities are chosen. Thankfully, there are more and more resources becoming available all the time to help support homeschool families. Texas...
