📚✂️ History Made: Executive Order to Dismantle Dept. of Education - What’s Next for Our Kids? 🤔🎓

Hello Reader,

Yesterday, history was made with the signing of an executive order to begin the dismantling of the Department of Education. There are a lot of mixed feelings about this decision, and there is also a lot of confusion. Can real education even happen without federal oversight? How will children learn everything they need to know?

This press release was issued on the subject, and essentially states that the intent is to remove the bureaucracy and the excessive administrative expenses that have continued to grow. Instead, states and parents will be empowered to set guidelines and make education decisions; it will also give teachers more freedom to teach their students using their own wisdom and expertise.

The press release states that: "“Education is fundamentally a state responsibility. Instead of filtering resources through layers of federal red tape, we will empower states to take charge and advocate for and implement what is best for students, families, and educators in their communities.

“Closing the Department does not mean cutting off funds from those who depend on them—we will continue to support K-12 students, students with special needs, college student borrowers, and others who rely on essential programs. We’re going to follow the law and eliminate the bureaucracy responsibly by working through Congress to ensure a lawful and orderly transition.

“With today’s action, we take a significant step forward to give parents and states control over their children’s education. Teachers will be unshackled from burdensome regulations and paperwork, empowering them to get back to teaching basic subjects. Taxpayers will no longer be burdened with tens of billions of dollars of waste on progressive social experiments and obsolete programs. K-12 and college students will be relieved of the drudgery caused by administrative burdens—and positioned to achieve success in a future career they love.”

We are hopeful that this will be a move toward more customized and vibrant education experiences for students with teachers who are able to love their jobs again or parents with resources to provide robust and exciting education experiences at home. We hope that students will be empowered to reach their full potentials, and that the steady decrease in academic proficiency will be reversed as students are able to participate in programs that best suit their needs, whatever that may look like.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Hello Reader, Homeschooling doesn't have to take all day. In fact, 3 focused hours can be more than effective than 6 in a traditional setting. This is because, at home, children are able to work at their own pace and have help on-demand to get through material quickly. They don't have the distractions of unruly kids, and don't have to sit and wait for help or for other kids to finish their work. Homeschooling allows much more efficient school time (even on the days when it seems like nothing...
